2009-2010 Hardin Fellowship
Tejinder Kumar MallThe Hardin Fellowship provides $2000 for a student conducting research in plant physiology with emphasis on genetic mechanisms influencing plant responses to stress conditions. This fellowship was made possible through an endowment to the University of Nebraska foundation by former Chancellor Clifford Hardin. Tejinder is a Phd student in Dr. Clemente's lab. 2009 Meritorious Student Award
Saadia Bihmidine2009 Meritorious Graduate Student AwardThe School of Natural Resources has created an award to recognize the best PhD and MS students pursing a degree in National Resources. Their aim is to honor their best students and recognize their academic achievements, research, teaching contributions, leadership accomplishments, service and person qualifications. Saadia Bihmidine is a PhD student working in Dr. Tom Clemente's lab. Her advisor is Dr. Tala Awada in the School of Natural Resources. Saadia is involved in several interdisciplinary research projects with researchers and experts from different fields (including Dr. Julie Stone, Dr. James Specht, Dr. Donald Weeks, Dr. Jim Van Etten, and Dr. David Dunigan). She is interested in understanding how plants respond to abiotic stresses (mainly drought) at both the physiological and molecular levels. 2009 Agronomy/Horticulture Graduate Student Poster Competition
The Agronomy and Horticulture Graduate Student Associations (AHGSA) puts on an annual poster competition with the help of the Agronomy and Horticulture Graduate Committee. Winners are awarded prizes and students have an opportunity of show off their research and project efforts. This year's judges were Dr. Specht,. Dr. Walters, Dr. Hoegemeyer, Dr. Sarath, Dr. Paparozzie, Dr. Lindquist, and Dr. Baenziger.
